About us

Avant Arte is a curated marketplace that aims to make discovering and collecting art radically more accessible for a new generation.

From Anish Kapoor and Tau Lewis to Jenny Holzer and Ai Weiwei, Avant Arte collaborates with leading contemporary artists to create limited edition works – from sculpture editions and works on paper to NFTs and hand-finished silkscreen prints.

As a team of printmakers, designers, technologists and creative producers, we want to set a new gold standard in both the highest quality edition making, alongside bringing art to audiences around the world in new ways.

We’re proud to collaborate with a range of leading public institutions – from LACMA to the National Portrait Gallery – on partnerships to bring new audiences to museums and engage a new generation of patrons through fundraising projects to support their artistic programmes.

The Avant Arte community is over 3 million people strong across more than 100 countries – we connect through Instagram, TikTok, Discord, online newsletters, through livestreams from artist studios and IRL events, but you can always reach our team directly to answer any questions through our live chat.

Making art accessible

We believe that the art’s potential is far greater than its current impact – Avant Arte’s mission is to make art radically more accessible, for a new generation. We do this by spotlighting artists’ practices and stories, connecting collectors and artists directly both online and IRL through events, as well as working in mediums that create new collecting opportunities to a wider audience of art lovers.

We’re constantly exploring new ways to achieve our mission: In 2021, we launched a public art programme, with our first large scale sculpture installation by Tschabalala Self, enabling important artists to make their first public works.

In 2022, we began including web3 artists, collectors, and mediums in our projects, becoming the first platform to create digital and physical editions pairings of exceptional quality. In 2023, we launched a range of initiatives to help art enthusiasts navigate the obscure world of collecting – from our Framing Guide to help people find trusted high quality framers local to them to Insights, a dedicated channel for more context on artists, collectors and editorial themes we think are important, as well as a way to introduce and demystify topics relevant to any new collecting journey.

“Working with Avant Arte on the Ai Weiwei editions project was creatively inspiring, professionally accomplished
and economically transformative for the funding model
of the Design Museum’s Ai Weiwei exhibition.”

Tim Marlow, CEO and Director of the Design Museum of London

Fundraising
One of the most important aspects of our mission is in supporting organisations that have been ensuring public access to art for many decades before us. Through partnerships with a range of leading museums, we have reached [x] million people online, raised $[x] million for non-profit organisations, and brought together a community of many thousands of new patrons around the world who lend their support through collecting editions from leading artists.

Supporting the Most Exciting Artists

We’re proud to work with some of the world’s most important and exciting contemporary artists. From Make-Ready, our specialist silkscreen studio in London, we support them with printmaking of the highest quality as a new or central part of their practice. And our team of creative producers helps each artist produce editioned works in any medium through partnerships with expert makers around the world – from Japanese bronze foundries and Carrara marble quarries to glassblowing in Stockholm and fine art lithography in New York. Many of the pieces artists have made exclusively with Avant Arte have since been acquired and placed within the permanent collections of international museums.

We pride ourselves on the storytelling and creative campaigns we design to bring these works to a new generation of enthusiasts and collectors. Whether in Jenny Holzer’s presentation of iconic LED trucks and Ai Weiwei’s global digital work, Middle Finger, or online takeovers by Paul McCarthy and billboard campaigns with Hank Willis Thomas, we seek to find fresh, thoughtful ways to enable artists to reach and communicate with new audiences.

Enabling a New Generation of Collectors

We believe that uniting a new generation of collectors is fundamental to helping art reach its potential. Collecting art can feel like an esoteric world to enter so we aim to provide entry points, information and access to help new and more experienced collectors through their collecting journey. We’ve brought together a community of more than 100,000 people actively interested in collecting – we engage with them through a dedicated Instagram channel, online newsletters, pop-up events around the world, and we have a team of advisors happy to answer any questions through chat or on email.

In 2022 we launched our first time-limited edition, opening a window of time for people to buy a piece which defines the size of the edition, in order to raise money to fund the medical bill of an artist who was badly affected during the pandemic. We found it to be a powerful way to deliver on our mission, providing access to thousands of collectors while maintaining exceptional standards with the materials and techniques we use.

We’ve grown this time-limited programme to include some of the world’s most renowned artists and used it to support a range of international museums, bringing together a new generation of collectors at a greater scale than ever before.

Whether you’re a first-time collector or sit on the board of a museum, collecting makes you a contemporary patron of the arts and we think this deserves a thoughtfully designed experience and the highest possible quality. From our printmaking to our packaging, we aim to bring the same meticulous attention to the experience we give Avant Arte collectors as the artists we work with bring to their work. We’re proud to have built meaningful relationships with our collector community over the years, many of whom we now consider friends.
