William Mapan presents a new work created especially for Digital Art Season at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Unconfined is a new generative landscape inspired by the artist’s visit to the V&A, where curators introduced him to the museum’s collection. Struck by the work of pioneering generative artist Harold Cohen, Mapan responded with a composition of opaque, boldly outlined forms scattered across the surface, exploring a dialogue between shape, space and colour. The work marks the first time he has shown this kind of graphic style publicly, signalling a new direction in his practice.
The collaboration comprises a signed limited edition print finished with silkscreen gloss varnish details, alongside an NFT. Proceeds from the fundraising edition support the V&A.
